Dr. Ronny Vavrin

Profile Summary
Ronny Vavrin has been working as a patent attorney for more than a decade and has completed his qualification as a European and Swiss patent attorney at Frei Patent Attorneys. He enjoys putting his expertise, experience and his structured and analytical way of thinking at the service of our clients and their research and development. The fact that his work as a patent attorney brings him into close contact with the latest technical innovations is particularly appealing to Ronny Vavrin, as scientific progress and new technical solutions exert a never-ending fascination on him.
Ronny Vavrin is highly skilled in computer science. During his dissertation, he worked for a start-up in research instrumentation and was involved in the development of hardware and software. He also worked for four years as an experimental physicist in fundamental research at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). From his personal experience in the start-up, Ronny Vavrin is thus particularly familiar with the needs and challenges of small and medium-sized companies.

Education and Qualifications
Ronny Vavrin has been working in the field of patents since 2009. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney and Swiss Patent Attorney in 2015/16. He is a graduate experimental physicist and holds a doctorate from the University of Fribourg in the field of soft condensed matter.

Professional Experience
Ronny Vavrin has been working for Frei Patent Attorneys since 2011. He advises our clients in all areas of patent protection, drafts patent applications, assists clients during the grant procedure and advises them in opposition and appeal proceedings. Ronny Vavrin corresponds in German and English, as well as French.
Since 2017, Ronny Vavrin has also been actively involved with the Online Communications Committee (OCC) of the European Patent Institute (epi). The OCC works closely with the European Patent Office on its projects to introduce and harmonise their online communication.
