Education and Qualifications
Peter Walser holds a doctorate in natural sciences and a degree in physics. He completed his doctorate at the ETH Zurich in the field of solid state physics. He has been working in the patent field since 1999; since 2002 he is patent attorney and European Patent Attorney.
Professional Experience
Peter Walser has been working for Frei Patent Attorneys since 2000. He has been managing director since 2005. He represents and advises clients in German and English in all patent law matters (grant, opposition and appeal proceedings, court proceedings before the Swiss Federal Patent Court and before foreign patent courts). He also provides general advice on IP issues and licence matters as well as trademark and design protection.
Peter Walser is also member of the Disciplinary Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office (as authorised representative). He is also a member of the Institute Council of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), the supreme supervisory body with regard to the operational management of the IPI, which grants patents and registers trademarks and designs in Switzerland. He was formerly President of VESPA (Swiss Association of private practice patent attorneys) and a founding member of the Examination Board for the Swiss Patent Attorney Examination. From 2011-2020 he was a board member of LES Switzerland (Licensing Executives Society). From 2005-2010 he was a lecturer at the ETH Zurich.
